sidd_k2002, Just move forward and sent the necessary sponsorship letter so that they can go ahead and get the visitors visa. Do you have any brothers and sisters living in India that are still with your parents? If so, they can show that as a reason why they would not like to stay back in US.
Stop worrying and think positive. Since Graduation is a BIG event and its once in a life-time event, the presence of parents at the honoring ceremony is the dream for every child. Your parents should convey this point to the VO.

I filed for 485 in July without EAD and AP document since my H1B is valid for another 2 years. In a month's time the most unfortunate thing happened. The company that sponsored my H1B/Green Card just got acquired. It is anticipated that as a result several people will get laid off including me. I have yet to recieve the reciept notice for 485. What happens when something like this happens 180 days before? What are my options if I were to get laid off?
1) Get H1B transfer to another company and hope that old employer won't revoke I-140.
2) Don't get H1B transfer, don't work at all, apply for EAD and AP and wait for the next 5 months to pass. Again hope that employer doesn't revoke I-140.
I have very good relations with employer and so far I have never needed to bend any rules, but don't know what the new people will be like.
If you are on H1B status your employer has to cancel your visa once they lay you off. You need to transfer your H1 before they cancel it, otherwise you will be out of status.

I will help with drafting something. Any more guidance on what needs to be included? Also, can we have a 'editor' who can help with finalizing the letters? Somebody who has good English speaking skills and is good at weeding out unnecessary stuff from the letters.
We also need to get hold of solid numbers which would justify not having this amendment. In this economic climate, people might wonder why new H1B hires are required.

If she is married before GC and USCIS knows about it, they can deny her petition.
If she marry a H1B guy, she can take H4 visa.

When she was 19, I applied for her on behalf of me.
She was my dependent.

July 2nd filer. NSC->CSC->NSC. Was told by an IO at NSC that my FP's have been scheduled on 10/26. Well, I have not received it as yet.

Same here: Filed AP on August 1st and got the receipt on the 25th, but have yet to receive the I-485/EAD receipts, which were filed on July 6. What can we do?

your lawyer (and most of them including some famous on wwww) are dhakkan. They have no clue what's going on with vb. They just know how to fill some some form , that also they screw lot of time.

Has anybody in this group(i.e. whose I-140 was transferred to TSC from NSC recently) seen any movements in their case? I am in the same boat, I-140 filed May'07 at NSC and moved to TSC in Apr'08. I saw one more related thread but haven't seen any approvals recently.

Looks like all the transfer cases are placed seperately and will not be touched for a while , My case was transfered to TSC on April 7th 08 and RD : July 5 th 07 . No word from TSC .. Not sure what we can do , more than a year of waiting for 140 approval ...God only can help us

My EB2 will be current next month per VB. I just moved to a new place and did an online address change. I changed my address in Master DB as well as pending petitions.My questions in regard to this are :
<> I created an online USCIS ID and noticed there was a soft-update on my petition - meaning the update date itself changed but the status of petition is the same. "Under review". Just wanted to confirm if my address change online , caused the soft-update or USCIS opened my application ?
<> Last time , I changed my address online it immediately give me EMail alerts as well as a plain auto generated hard copy letter in zerox, from them informing me of the same. This time there are no alerts , nothing. How do I know what address USCIS have on file for me.
My online profile won't show current address - just an application online to change the same.
Any insights will help

There is no limit on the amount of money that a person can bring in. However if a person is carrying $10 k (this includes cash, travellers check, bank draft etc) or >5k in cash then that has to be declared at customs and person should go through Red Channel.

Yes. You are in status. Filing for I-485 provides you legal status. If you are without project for too long, transferring H1b might not be an option. But you can work on EAD. You will not be out of status.

The only thing I can think of is to get hold of some relative or friend in Canada, send them $150, have them get the Scotia Bank receipts, and fedex them over to me.
